The Best of Austin This November!

The Best of Austin This November!

When our friends from up north walk around Austin in November, they can catch us sayin' some strange stuff, such as "Hook 'em!" "Turkey Trot!" and "I actually got my jacket out today!" We may still have decently warm weather while we gorge on turkey and pumpkin pie, but that just means we have nice weather for doing all kinds of fun things around town. Here are five favorites!

Channeling our inner Wisconsin at Quesoff (Nov. 2nd, Mohawk Austin): Are you a tortilla chip looking for someplace warm and melty to land? Taking place at one of Austin's many iconic venues, this yearly homage to melted fromage features some of Austin's top cooks trying to make the best queso they can sling. Though the panel of judges has final say, believe me when I tell you that everybody wins!

Increase your cultural IQ with the Austin Studio Tour (Nov. 8th–9th and Nov. 15th–16th, various locations around town): Austin's preeminent arts magazine, Almost Real Things, is cranking up the creativity and bringing back one of Austin's coolest art adventures. For two weekends every November, the city turns into a treasure map of galleries where you can meet the artistic masterminds, peek into their creative chaos, and snag some unique art pieces in the process. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just in it for the vibes, this is your backstage pass to Austin's art scene.

Indulge in the finer things at the Austin Food & Wine Festival (Nov. 7th–9th, Auditorium Shores): Food, drinks, and music — this shindig has the Austin hat trick! Hob nob with talented A-town chefs and winemakers who come from all over to show you a thing or two about good eating. There's even a place where you and a partner can grill your own food while getting pointers from a real pitmaster. Enjoy three days of foodie heaven at the fabled Auditorium Shores, with live music naturally.

Brewed to perfection at the Texas Craft Brewers Festival (Nov. 15th, Fiesta Gardens): Saddle up, beer lovers! Hosted by the Texas Craft Brewers Guild, this festival brings together around 80 of the finest small and independent breweries from across the Lone Star State, wrangling over 200 handcrafted brews. Set at scenic Fiesta Gardens, you can expect mouthwatering food trucks, toe-tapping live music, and good vibes flowing like, well, beer!
